ZEN Energy is proud to provide the following Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for our customers and interested parties regarding our recent strategic partnership announcement with GFG Alliance. For more information on the announcement please read the media release.
Following the announcement of our strategic partnership with GFG Alliance, ZEN Energy can provide the following FAQs on the announcement for existing customers and those who are considering ZEN for their solar or energy storage needs.
These FAQs will help you understand what the partnership means for you as a customer or potential customer of ZEN Energy, and how the partnership will help strengthen our existing business and help us continue to provide our expert services to even more customers across Australia.
Why is ZEN Energy doing this?
This is the next exciting evolution for ZEN Energy. Building on our experience designing and installing solar and battery storage solutions for residential and commercial customers, ZEN Energy will now offer energy supply solutions to large industrial customers.
In particular, ZEN Energy will partner with SIMEC to deliver cheaper, more reliable and environmentally sustainable energy for SIMEC ’s mining operations in South Australia and Liberty OneSteel’s operations in South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, and Western Australia. We will also project manage the development of SIMEC Energy Australia’s new large scale energy projects, including solar PV, battery storage and pumped hydro facilities. ZEN is also working closely with some of Australia’s largest energy users to reduce costs, increase reliability, and increase the amount of low-emissions energy used in industry.
As our Chairman Professor Ross Garnaut said:
“ZEN has spent many years building the strategy, business models and management and technological capacities to introduce new solutions to Australia’s energy problems of weak competition, high costs, low reliability and unnecessary pollution. We have been looking for the right capital investor and strategic partner to help realise our plans, and have found the perfect match in Sanjeev and the SIMEC Energy team. Their understanding of the energy trilemma this country faces, which is making much of our industry uncommercial and environmentally unsustainable, means we see the market need and opportunity in the same way. We are excited about the future, as this will yield benefits for Australian jobs, investors, communities and the environment.”
Does this mean I can now sign my home or business up to ZEN Energy as my electricity retailer?
Not yet. At this stage, our energy supply contracts will be bespoke offerings that we provide only to large industrial users. ZEN is already working closely with these types of users. We may have the ability to offer electricity supply contracts to homes, business, and smaller industrial users in the future, however it is not something we are offering today.
If you are a home, business, or small industrial user looking to reduce your energy costs or your reliance on the grid, your best option today is to purchase solar and/or energy storage as soon as possible to reduce your reliance on the existing energy retailers. ZEN Energy is ready to assist you with this today. As ZEN Energy continues to grow over time, our customers will be the first to know about the wider electricity supply contracts we will be able to provide homes and businesses when they become available. This is all part of our commitment to providing our customers with a future technology pathway from solar and storage through to demand management and balance of power supply capabilities.
Will ZEN continue to focus on residential solar and storage systems?
Yes, absolutely. This partnership with GFG Alliance has grown out of our experience in designing and installing solar and battery storage solutions for residential and commercial customers, and it remains a core focus for us.
The partnership will actually allow us to provide even more businesses and households across Australia with affordable, reliable and tailored renewable energy solutions, thanks to the increased resources and shared knowledge that will come through the partnership. This announcement allows ZEN Energy to add new capabilities and resources to our team, without losing any focus on the residential and commercial customers that have been our strength since we began in 2004.
Will ZEN Energy still be Australian owned and Australian based?
Yes. Being Australian owned and Australian based is one of key strengths, and the reason why many of our customers choose us and continue to come back to us. Every time to speak to someone at ZEN Energy, be it from our sales teams through to our delivery teams and through to our customer support teams, you will still be speaking to someone that is based in Australia and part of a proudly Australian company.
I’m an existing ZEN customer. Does this change anything with my warranties or ongoing customer service?
No. The warranties that ZEN provided as part of your system continue to be honoured and backed by the same companies as before. And our Australian-based customer support team remain your first point of contact for any questions or claims. A key strength of our business has always been that we are here and available to provide ongoing support and maintenance to our customers, with an Australian based team, and this does not change.
Who do I now call for any enquiries?
