Professional Background and Experience
Raymond was born in Adelaide and attended law school at the University of Adelaide. From 1970 to 1989, he was employed by the Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA), a not-for-profit development organization. At ICA, Raymond was the country head for India from 1970 to 1976 and was later involved in worldwide fundraising, government relations and investment operations. In 1989, he started Kanbay International, an IT services company focused on serving the financial services industry. As Chairman and CEO, he led Kanbay from its inception through its acquisition by Cap Gemini in 2007 for A$1.7 billion, at which point Kanbay had over 7,500 associates in fourteen cities across eight nations. He stayed on with Cap Gemini as founding CEO of the Group’s Global Financial Services Unit.
Raymond serves as Chairman of the Economic Development Board, and Chairman of the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI). He was inducted to the Chicago Area Entrepreneur Hall of Fame in 2003 and was named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year 2005 for the Illinois Region. He was named a Laureate in the Computerworld Honors Program, and in 2013 was awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters by the University of Arizona.
He currently serves as Chairman or board member of a number of private and public companies in Australia and the USA. These include Greensmith Energy Management Systems, a leading US provider of energy storage software and integration solutions. ZEN is the exclusive Australian partner of Greensmith Energy in the Oceania region.
