Professional Background and Experience
Terry has worked in the energy sector for over 15 years, with roles as Executive Manager – Engineering Development with Pacific Hydro from 2002 to 2014 and as an Energy Adviser to Australian Volunteers International from 2000 to 2001.
In Terry’s role with Pacific Hydro, he reported to the Chief Operations Officer and was responsible for the group development function. The role provided strategy, knowledge and transaction support to Pacific Hydro’s development activities to deploy wind, hydro, solar and geothermal energy projects in the company’s key markets.
Prior to this, Terry had a two year placement in Cambodia with a mandate from the Australian government to identify and deliver effective capacity building initiatives in a post-conflict society with low development indicators and heavy reliance on international aid. In this role, Terry acted as Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Energy, significantly lifting the capacity of the Renewable Policy team to interface with multilateral institutions during the scoping phase of the World Bank Cambodia Renewable Electrification project.
He also acted as Consultant to the Solar Development Group, and conducted a baseline market study for village solar home systems. The study assisted SDG to assess investment potential in the Cambodian market. SDG is a venture capital investment vehicle formed by Triodos Bank and the International Finance Corporation specialising in small renewable energy companies in developing countries.
In the 1990’s, Terry was also a Project Manager with Asea Brown Boveri, with a client facing role leading technical teams to deliver factory automation solutions at multiple sites, including multiple foreign sales missions. Terry’s most significant achievement in this role was successfully leading client relationships and a team of 11 to deliver and commission a US$500K, 11,000 man-hour control system modernisation project for ICI using a performance linked contracting model.
