About the Senior Commercial Analyst Role

The primary purpose of this role is to develop and lead all reporting and analysis needs for Energy Markets business area within ZEN Energy to support the strategic direction for business development, portfolio supply, sales, marketing, and growth opportunities.

What we will ask you to do:

Customer Pricing

• Provide wholesale product and pricing analysis service to customer team to ensure margin is protected and customer revenue is maximised.

• Continuously improve pricing methodology and take end to end ownership of new product development.

• Analyse market trends to provide customer insights and recommendations in relation to pricing strategies and portfolio optimisation.

PPA Offtake Pricing

• Developed an improved robust offtake pricing model catering for various renewable energy types, wind, solar etc.

• Continuously improve PPA pricing methodology and take end to end ownership of new structured PPA products.

• Provide wholesale product and pricing analysis service to origination team to ensure margin is protected and generation cost is minimised.

Portfolio Analysis

• Ownership and maintenance of all portfolio management systems, models, reports, and processes that enable Energy Markets function to actively and effectively manage and report on the various portfolios within the delegated authorities and guidelines.

• Assist Head of Pricing and Optimization in leading the development and systems and processes across ZEN Energy Markets to support trading activities and improve the accuracy band relevance of information required and provided.

• Conduct required business analysis for various projects. Business analysis requirements will be quite varied. Some common areas will be:

o Technical options analysis

o Market studies

o Commercial analysis

o Stakeholder analysis

• Extract, synthesize and communicate relevant insights from business analysis conducted

• Develop recommendations for various project related decisions

Skills and Experience

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in Wholesale Energy preferably with exposure in portfolio analysis and pricing.

• AFMA accredited or working towards accreditation.

• Tertiary skills in engineering or commercial discipline.

Technical Capabilities

• Experience in using ETRM tools.

• Proficiency in Microsoft suite including but not limited to excel, PowerPoint, word etc.

About the role

The role is to support the General Counsel in the provision of legal services to the business in a manner that appropriately enhances and protects the interests of ZEN Energy. The primary area of legal support to the business will be commercially focussed, assisting the business with the preparation, negotiation and management of contracts. In addition, the role will support the business in the management of transaction timetables, deliverables, and external legal service providers.

Execution – 60%

• Assist in the drafting of a range of contracts and legal documents, including:

o Term Sheets – PPAs, LGC Contracts, Tolling Agreements, Capacity Agreements, MOUs, etc.

o Full Contracts – PPAs, Energy Supply Agreements, LGC Contracts, Tolling Agreements, Capacity Agreements, Debt and Equity Agreements.

o Development Contracts – RFTs, EWA, EPC, O&M, Supply Contracts, Interface Deeds, Development Agreements, etc.; and

o Ancillary Contracts – NDAs, Option Agreement, Consultancy Agreements, PCGs, Novation Deeds, etc.

• Assist in the negotiation of contracts and legal documents with counterparties and external advisors.

• The provision of legal advice relating to contractual rights, obligations, and risks.

• Assist in the management of transaction timetables.

• Assist in the management of transaction deliverables.

• Assisting in the development of business tools, manuals, and templates for all of the above.

• Collaborate with teams to identify and enhance service optimization and improvements.

About the role:

ZEN is seeking an experienced environmental planner to support and drive the efficient and timely delivery of environmental and planning approvals whilst also being entrusted to take on the role of project lead for one or more greenfield development projects. ZEN are growing our development team to support our portfolio of utility electricity and storage projects (and some green industrial projects) whilst managing their overall risk profile.

This is a growth opportunity for a motivated individual, with the role able to evolve to increasing levels of responsibility and increased exposure to an exciting and diverse pipeline of development activity.

Specific responsibilities will include:

• Provide guidance, and strong support to (and in some instances directly lead) the environmental approvals workstreams of ZEN’s developments, including:

o Scoping the work and identifying external advisors, consultants and specialists best placed to support the scope of work

o Participating in procurement of external support (preparation of request for proposals, evaluating tenders, organising consultancy agreements)

o Work with the broader ZEN team to refine project footprints and design to manage critical risks

o Review draft EIS/EES/EPBC/Planning Reports and similar deliverables to ensure quality and appropriateness.

o Prepare material for board approval to progress through development stage gates

• Build and manage relationships across local council and state planning departments

• Take ownership of 1-2 greenfield developments in their entirety (for example this could

include a PV/BESS hybrid project or a standalone BESS)

• Participate in greenfield landowner engagement to secure additional development sites

where a business need and rationale for investment is identified

• Participate in community and stakeholder engagement, with potential for a more active role

in this space subject to level of interest. Note: ZEN have a standalone internal stakeholder

and engagement team.

• Support environmental and regulatory compliance of sites progressing through construction

or in operations

Specific responsibilities will include:

• Provide guidance, and strong support to (and in some instances directly lead) the environmental approvals workstreams of ZEN’s developments, including:

o Scoping the work and identifying external advisors, consultants and specialists best placed to support the scope of work

o Participating in procurement of external support (preparation of request for proposals, evaluating tenders, organising consultancy agreements)

o Work with the broader ZEN team to refine project footprints and design to manage critical risks

o Review draft EIS/EES/EPBC/Planning Reports and similar deliverables to ensure quality and appropriateness.

o Prepare material for board approval to progress through development stage gates

• Build and manage relationships across local council and state planning departments

• Take ownership of 1-2 greenfield developments in their entirety (for example this could

include a PV/BESS hybrid project or a standalone BESS)

• Participate in greenfield landowner engagement to secure additional development sites

where a business need and rationale for investment is identified

• Participate in community and stakeholder engagement, with potential for a more active role

in this space subject to level of interest. Note: ZEN have a standalone internal stakeholder

and engagement team.

• Support environmental and regulatory compliance of sites progressing through construction

or in operations

• Bring general lessons learnt to bear on ZEN’s development projects

• Explore new approaches/processes to identification and avoidance/mitigation of

environmental risks in ZEN’s development activity and business operations

Required skills/education:

• Tertiary qualification in Town Planning, Urban Studies, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, or related discipline.

• 5+ years’ experience inclusive of significant major infrastructure approvals

• Experience in the renewable energy & storage sector considered favourably

• Ability to communicate clearly (verbal and written) and adjust communications style and content to the audience

• Proactive and autonomous working style required

• You will engage collaboratively with stakeholders across the business and externally as well.

• We would love you to be able to clearly explain and deliver information, even if it is complex.

• A strong attention to detail, self-organisation, and ability to meet deadlines is important.

• You will be passionate about learning the issues relating to the energy industry, particularly in renewables.
